Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it. Written in plain language on purpose.
Last updated 22 August 2026
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to Upheld Health Technologies (“Upheld Health,” “we,” “us,” “our”), to this website, and to Goldie, our text-first care companion.
Goldie is currently in development and preparing for early caregiver validation. Where this policy describes how Goldie handles information, it describes how the service is designed to operate for participants who have been given access to it.
2. Information we collect
When you use this website
If you submit our contact form, we collect the name, email address, organization (optional), the role you select, and the message you write.
Our hosting provider also records standard server and request information, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use this to keep the site running and secure.
When you use Goldie
Goldie works over text message. To provide it, we collect:
- Your mobile phone number, so Goldie can send and receive messages.
- The content of messages you send to Goldie, and the messages Goldie sends back.
- The care information you choose to give it — for example medications and doses, appointment times, care-team instructions, events you log, and notes you ask it to keep.
- Timing information, such as when you logged something or when a reminder is due, because that is what makes the answers useful.
- Your reminder preferences, including changes you make in conversation.
Goldie holds information about the person you are caring for because you choose to give it. You decide what to share with it and what to leave out.
We do not ask for and do not want Social Security numbers, payment card numbers, insurance identification numbers, or government identification documents.
3. Where the information comes from
Directly from you. We do not buy personal information, and we do not obtain it from data brokers or lead generators.
4. How we use information
- To send the reminders and messages you have asked for.
- To answer your questions about information you have previously given Goldie.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve our service.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- To comply with law.
We do not use your information to serve you advertising, and we do not sell it.
5. Text messaging
Goldie is delivered by text message, so these terms matter.
- Consent. Goldie is currently offered through an invited pilot. Caregivers who take part enroll affirmatively and consent to receive text messages from Goldie at the mobile number they provide. We do not message anyone who has not enrolled and consented. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
- Message frequency. Message frequency varies, and depends on the reminders and preferences you set.
- Cost. Message and data rates may apply. These are charged by your mobile carrier, not by us.
- Opting out. You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP. We will send one confirmation and then stop sending messages.
- Help. Reply HELP for assistance, or email us at katelyn@upheldhealth.org.
- Delivery. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Do not rely on text message delivery for anything time-critical to someone’s safety.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, and will never be sold or shared with lead generators.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. Companies that operate parts of our service on our behalf — for example message delivery, cloud hosting, and email. They may use the information only to perform services for us, under contract.
- Legal requirements. When we are required to by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of a person.
- Business transfers. If Upheld Health is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. If that happens, we will give notice before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
- With your direction. If you ask us to share information with someone — for example another caregiver — we will do what you ask.
7. Goldie is not a medical provider
Goldie organises, remembers and reports information you give it. It does not diagnose, does not treat, and does not make medical decisions. Nothing Goldie says is medical advice.
When something calls for clinical judgment, Goldie is designed to point you back to your care team. Your clinicians and you make the medical decisions.
Goldie is not an emergency service. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number, or contact your care team directly.
8. Security
We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse, including encryption of data in transit and access controls limiting who on our team can reach it.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not tell you otherwise. Text messages in particular travel over mobile carrier networks that we do not control, and messages remain visible on your device to anyone who can open it.
9. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, and afterwards only as long as we have a legitimate need — for example to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. When you ask us to delete your information, we delete it as described below.
10. Your choices
- Stop messages. Reply STOP at any time.
- Access, correction and deletion. Email us at katelyn@upheldhealth.org and we will confirm what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it.
- Withdraw consent. You may withdraw your consent to our collection and use of your information at any time. This will end your use of Goldie, because the service does not function without it.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
11. State privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights under state law — including the right to know what personal information we hold, to obtain a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of sale or targeted advertising, and to appeal a decision we make about your request. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
To exercise any of these rights, email katelyn@upheldhealth.org. We will verify your request by confirming control of the phone number or email address associated with the information.
Washington residents: consumer health data is covered by our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, as required by the My Health My Data Act.
12. Children
Goldie is built for adult caregivers. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to open an account or opt in to messages.
A caregiver using Goldie may choose to record information about a child in their care. That information is provided by the adult caregiver, is treated with the same protections described in this policy, and can be deleted on request.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, give notice by text or email before the change takes effect.
